Union Solar completes industry-first solar water heater "black light factory," achieving dual leap in capacity and quality
[Zhejiang, China] – Union Solar today announced the completion of its fully automated, unmanned production facility for solar water heaters — the industry's first "black light factory" for solar thermal products. The facility achieves a 99.95% production yield rate while significantly expanding manufacturing capacity.
The black light factory integrates advanced robotics, IoT sensors, computer vision quality inspection, and AI-driven production scheduling. From raw material intake to finished product packaging, the entire manufacturing process operates with minimal human intervention, dramatically reducing defect rates and ensuring consistent product quality.

The facility's initial annual production capacity exceeds 300,000 solar water heater units, with plans to scale to over 500,000 units within two years. This expansion positions Union Solar to meet growing global demand, particularly from the Asia-Pacific region which commanded 43.9% of global solar water heater revenue in 2025.
The new factory also embodies Union Solar's commitment to sustainable manufacturing. Solar panels cover the entire factory roof, making the production facility itself a net-positive energy building. Waste heat from the production process is recovered and reused for factory heating and employee amenities.
